The Tulare is a handmade full-grain leather tote created in limited quantities by Qualls Atelier, the leather house of family-run Qualls Goods. Designed as an everyday working tote, it combines traditional saddle stitching, carefully selected materials, and straightforward organization in a bag intended to become more personal with use.
Each Tulare is cut by hand from brown Seidel Double Shot, a full-grain, hot-stuffed pull-up leather selected for its strength, depth of color, and ability to develop a rich patina. Natural grain, subtle markings, and changes in tone remain visible. They are not defects—they are part of the hide’s history and the continuing story of the finished piece.
The body is saddle stitched by hand with linen thread. A central leather strap, concealed magnetic closure, and brass keeper secure the opening. Inside, a soft lambskin lining and two slip pockets provide practical organization while preserving the tote’s clean, uncluttered character.
Qualls Goods was founded around the belief that good materials deserve careful stewardship. That principle carries through each house in our family-run business. At Qualls Atelier, production remains intentionally limited so every piece can be carefully constructed, maintained, and passed forward.
The Tulare is made to be used, repaired when needed, and carried for years—not replaced with the next season.
