The Quercus is a handmade full-grain leather tote from the Qualls Atelier Heirloom Collection. Each bag is cut and saddle stitched by hand from Badalassi Carlo Minerva Smooth, an Italian vegetable-tanned leather selected for its strength, natural character, and ability to develop a rich patina.
Minerva Smooth begins with a clean, refined surface that gradually deepens in color and becomes more personal through handling and use. Natural grain, markings, and tonal variation remain visible, allowing every Quercus Tote to develop its own character over time.
The clean exterior is balanced by two hand-rolled leather handles, carefully shaped and stitched for a comfortable carry. Fil au Chinois French linen thread follows the rim, handle attachments, and structural seams. A concealed magnetic closure keeps the opening secure without interrupting the tote’s understated silhouette.
Inside, the Quercus is fully lined in soft lambskin, creating a refined and protective interior. Each tote requires approximately 32 hours of cutting, stitching, lining, shaping, and hand finishing.
Qualls Atelier is the leather house of family-run Qualls Goods. Our work is grounded in the belief that good materials deserve careful stewardship. Production remains intentionally limited so every Quercus can be carefully constructed, maintained, and passed forward.
